Tanks Davis Says Haney Is Not An Elite Fighter

Gervonta Davis feels Devin Haney is not an elite boxer following his loss to Ryan Garcia.

The Dream lost his first fight, getting dropped three times in a majority decision defeat. Haney had no answers to Garcia’s left hook, showing a lack of boxing IQ by failing to make adjustments. His best weapon, the jab, was taken away. But since Garcia missed weight by 3.2 pounds, Haney remains the WBC Junior Welterweight Champion. The result could, however, be overturned.

Garcia tested positive for Ostarine in two urine samples taken on April 19 and 20. Garcia could face a ban due to strict liability, leaving his team with a tough task of proving contamination. Haney’s attorney has taken legal action to disqualify Garcia so that The Dream can be declared the winner. Even if that happens, Davis was not convinced by Haney’s skills.

“I watched the fight. I think that he [Devin Haney] overlooked the guy. He seen what I did to the guy and thought that he could do the same thing. It’s a lot of things he did wrong, and it showed that he’s not who they think he is…or who he says he is, but life shows you,” Davis said

Davis and Haney could face each other later down the line at 140. Based on how Davis stopped Garcia, he will back himself to do the same to Haney. Haney showed that he does not have the power to get big punchers to respect him, which Davis would capitalize on.
