Taylor Arrested After SWAT Standoff

Former world champion Medrick Taylor would find himself in trouble with the law on Tuesday, as he would be arrested for allegedly pulling a gun on someone.

The 52-year-old Taylor was arrested at 1:30 in the morning after a 90-minute standoff with Philadelphia’s SWAT unit.

He was charged with aggravated assault, posession of an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, and other related charges.

Taylor’s standoff with the police began around 11 pm on Monday evening, as he would inform the unidentified victim that they would have to vacate his apartment by the morning, then following the tenant claiming he needed at least 30 days notice prior to an eviction, Taylor would pull a silver revolver on the person.

The police would then be called and Taylor telling the responding officers “I ain’t coming out.”

Taylor, a 1984 Olympic gold medalist, would box professionally for 18 years, holding the IBF and WBA welterweight titles in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
