Taylor Heads To WBSS Finals After Win

After a weigh-in miscue, Josh Taylor is on the road to a unification showdown with Regis Prograis, taking a unanimous decision win over Ivan Baranchyk.

Taylor remained undefeated and taking his first world championship at the SSE Hydro, dropping Baranchyk in the sixth round, gaining the IBF super lightweight belt.

“It’s a dream come true,” Taylor said. “I was pretty comfortable in there but switched off a couple times, and I could have made it a bit more comfortable for myself. If I had more time in that round (the sixth), I would have stopped him. I was just picking him off with my jab.”

“It was a hell of a fight, and I felt like I was going to fight him (Taylor) anyway and now I can’t wait for it,” WBA super lightweight champion, Regis Prograis said of his opponent in the WBSS finals.
