Taylor-Persoon Unification Eyed For June

Katie Taylor won’t sit on the sidelines for long, as the unified lightweight champion is looking to unify against WBC champion Delfine Persoon in June.

Speaking with Sky Sports following her win in Boston, promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that the Irish fighter is working towards a June 1st return on the undercard for Anthony Joshua’s Madison Square Garden debut against Jarrell Miller.

“I believe we can, we can. June the 1st at Madison Square Garden on the Joshua card, what better setting for the undisputed lightweight title? … That undisputed fight means everything to (Taylor) and that fight is going to cement her legacy in the professional code.”

Persoon has held the WBC title for five years, with her most recent win coming on March 9th with a seventh round stoppage of Melissa St. Vil, while Taylor bested Volante to add the WBO title to her collection.
