Bill Haney fired back at recent accusations from Rolando Romero (17-2), insisting that a welterweight unification bout is the immediate priority for his son, WBO champion Devin Haney.
The exchange follows a post from Romero, who labeled the Haneys “full of s***” and accused them of stalling after a formal offer was reportedly issued by PBC. Bill Haney dismissed the remarks stating, “Rolly is trying to talk his way out.”
While a formal announcement is still pending, both camps have confirmed that conversations are underway for a May 30, 2026 showdown at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Haney currently holds the WBO Welterweight Title (captured from Brian Norman Jr. in November 2025), while Rolly Romero holds the WBA Welterweight Title, which he secured after being elevated following his Ryan Garcia win last May.
