Teofimo Lopez And Jamaine Ortiz Lock Eyes Post-Weigh-In

Teofimo Lopez and Jamaine Ortiz successfully made the 140-pound weight limit for their WBO Junior Welterweight Title fight on February 8.

The headline event takes place during Super Bowl week as Lopez makes the first defense of his belt. The Takeover beat the lineal champion, Josh Taylor, via a unanimous decision to win the belt. Lopez has targeted a fight with Terence Crawford at 147, but he cannot afford to overlook his opponent.

Ortiz is confident heading into the fight, claiming he is mentally tougher than Lopez, as he backed himself to win. This is his first fight at 140 pounds, so he has changed his training set-up. He has enlisted the help of Bill Haney, which may play a pivotal factor since Bill’s son, Devin Haney, has been linked with a Lopez fight. Both men hit the scales at 139.6 pounds.
