Garcia and Romero were in talks to face each other, with Ryan targeting his first world title. Romero holds the WBA Junior Welterweight Title and was expected to face Garcia, who withdrew from talks with Devin Haney to get the fight.
That all changed when Oscar De La Hoya confirmed Romero was no longer in the picture. He blamed Romero for demanding too much money, as Jose Ramirez was put forward for Garcia. Ryan rejected that fight after which Romero blamed De La Hoya for trying to make another fight behind his back.
“F— Princess Ryan Garcia, f— Oscar De La Fishnets, and f— DAZN, the s—tiest streaming network out there, for wasting my time and more important wasting the entire boxing world’s time.
“It’s disgusting to see how you guys do business, then trying to go behind my back offering [Isaac Cruz] an offer, then claiming I [priced myself out]. Y’all f—ed up. Now it’s Rolly vs Pitbull on Amazon Prime, the largest network in boxing history. This fight is an explosion,” Romero said
Those comments did not sit well with Lopez. The Takeover posted the following footage below, showing him getting the better of Romero in sparring as he promised to do so again for De La Hoya’s benefit.

De La Hoya welcomed those words by expressing his gratitude towards Lopez.
Thanks @TeofimoLopez it’s all good brother. You have these young kids who have no idea what a legend is or how to be one. At the end of the day I’ll be around boxing till I die and be the first ever fighter and promoter in the HOF
