Teofimo Lopez Discusses What Could Be Next After Win Over Vasiliy Lomachenko

Teofimo Lopez is on cloud nine following his stunning victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Lopez shared the ring with Lomachenko in a massive title unification bout. The WBA (Super), WBC (Franchise), IBF, and WBO Lightweight Titles were on the line. After 12 rounds of action, Lopez was awarded the unanimous decision victory. Many believe that the winner was correct, although the 119-109 score total from Julie Lederman is a head-scratcher to most.

During the post-fight press conference, Lopez discussed what could be in store for him following the victory over Lomachenko (h/t BoxingScene.com).

“I don’t duck or dodge any of these guys, and I think that they don’t got the will to win like I do. So, hell yeah, 140, if anything, it’s dangerous for them, man, because that’s where I’m really fully hydrated, I feel much better and I’m faster and I’m stronger than them.”

While Lopez believes he can continue to make 135 pounds, the thought of moving up to 140 is enticing.

“That’s why, you know, I’m building a house now, with my wife, and I’m very thankful for that. We’ve been doing it throughout the process of this fight, just so I can have a gym in my house and stay consistent with my work. Who knows what the future holds? You know, I would love to definitely unify at 140, take all the belts and become undisputed champion back-to-back. Hell, yeah!”

With the win over Lomachenko, Lopez improves his pro boxing record to 16-0. Lomachenko falls to 14-2. This is his first defeat since his second pro bout back in March 2014.
