Teofimo Lopez On Ryan Garcia’s Title Win – “I’m Going Into That Division So We’ll See”

It seems Teofimo Lopez intends to make his move up to 147-pounds a quick road back to a world title, as he eyes a shot at Ryan Garcia’s newly earned WBC belt.

This past weekend, Garcia secured the WBC welterweight title in a unanimous decision victory over former champion Mario Barrios. This is a massive bounce-back victory for Garcia following a tough loss to Rolando Romero last May. But given the loss to ‘Rolly’, many could view Garcia as a fragile world champion with inconsistencies.

In Lopez’s most recent outing, at the end of January, he faced a tough decision loss to Shakur Stevenson, dropping his 140-pound WBO title in the process. But now, Lopez seems reactivated by his plans to move to welterweight, and is certainly thinking big right off the hop.

“You can’t put them guys in yet. We got me in division now. I’m going in that division. So, we’ll see,”
