Teofimo Lopez Predicts Early Stoppage Against George Kambosos
Teofimo Lopez has predicted a quick knockout victory over George Kambosos.
Lopez and Kambosos are expected to go one-on-one on June 5. Lopez is the WBA, IBF, WBO, The Ring, and WBC (Franchise) Lightweight Champion. All titles will be on the line.
Earlier this month, Lopez’s father told Fight Hype that he doesn’t see Kambosos as a viable threat (h/t Bad Left Hook).
“I’m not even worried about this guy (Kambosos). I haven’t even looked at video of him — I’m gonna do it once the camp starts on March 29th. That’s when I’m gonna start looking at his videotapes and see what he does. But what I’ve seen, he fights a little bit like — a lot like Diego Magdaleno, face forward, throwing a lot of punches. That’s an easy fight for my son. We want those guys to come forward. Lomachenko evaded my son because he didn’t want to get knocked out. And you saw in the last round we almost had him, when he started committing.”
Teofimo agrees with his father in a sense. While he thinks Kambosos is a solid fighter, he told Fight Hub TV that he still expects a quick finish (via Boxing Insider).
“I think that he’s a strong fighter, a hungry fighter. Someone that’s going to want to come in aggressive. It’s going to be a good fight. It’s going to be one of those fights that maybe is toe-to-toe.
“I agree with him [father]. It won’t go past three. I’m even thinking of putting money on it.”
