Teofimo Lopez Sr. Blasts Crawford For Ducking His Son – ‘His Career Is Going To Be Over’

Teofimo Lopez Sr. has accused Terence Crawford of ducking his son, Teofimo Lopez

Crawford is searching for an opponent after the Errol Spence Jr. rematch broke down. Canelo Alvarez also ruled out a Crawford fight, saying it made no sense for him to face a welterweight. Teo has been calling out Crawford, which began before his fight against Jamaine Ortiz. Lopez secured a unanimous decision in a controversial win as Crawford clapped back at Lopez’s performance. But since Crawford’s next fight is unclear, Lopez Sr. has again talked up the fight.

“I don’t think Crawford wants anything to do with my son. His career is going to be over. That’s how he feels. My son destroying him. He [Crawford] thinks he’s King Kong. Him losing to my son would be a disgrace. He wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. It would be a nightmare. it would be like him coming back from Vietnam, seeing all that s*** that you see in those wars.

“He knows my son has got a good chance to give him that L, and that’s all they care about is losing. They don’t want to lose. My son always goes for the top dog. He’s in the game to fight the top dog. Terence wants to go three weight divisions to fight Canelo. My son just wants to go one weight division,” Lopez Sr. said

Lopez and Crawford do have other options. Bud could fight Jaron Ennis, the current IBF Welterweight Champion, in an attempt to become undisputed again. There is also the possibility of facing Tim Tszyu at 154 pounds. The current WBO Junior Middleweight Champion takes on Keith Thurman in a non-title fight on March 30.

Provided Tszyu wins, a title fight would aid Bud’s attempts at becoming a three-weight undisputed champion. Lopez also has big unification fights at 140 against Devin Haney, Subriel Matias and Rolando Romero. With both men having options, there is no pressing need for either to make that fight.
