Teofimo Lopez Thinks Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis, & Devin Haney Are ‘Scared’
Teofimo Lopez is of the belief that Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis, and Devin Haney are avoiding him.
Lopez is a part of what many believe to be the modern golden age of lightweights in boxing. Along with Lopez are WBA (Regular) Champion Davis, interim WBC titleholder Ryan Garcia, and WBC Champion Devin Haney. Lopez thinks the division’s top stars are afraid of him.
During an interview with TMZ, “The Takeover” made it clear that he doesn’t feel Garcia, Davis, and Haney are too eager to fight him.
“I know y’all scared and sh*t, but let’s just make the fight happen for the fans. Let’s just do that. Don’t overprice yourselves. If y’all believe y’all the best and y’all think that y’all can take this, then let’s make the fight happen! Man, don’t be p**** about it!”
Lopez went on to detail his plans moving forward and he doesn’t seem to mind who shares the ring with him first.
“Our goal is to shoot for three fights this year whether it’s my mandatory [boxer George Kambosos], Garcia, Haney, Tank Davis, those guys at 135 lbs., that’s where our goal is.”
Lopez was last seen inside the ring back in October 2020. He stunned the boxing world with a unanimous decision victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko. The win earned Lopez the WBA (Super), WBO, WBC (Franchise), and The Ring Lightweight Titles. Going into the bout, Lopez already held the IBF gold.
Garcia is fresh off a seventh-round knockout victory over Luke Campbell. Davis scored a Knockout of the Year candidate over Leo Santa Cruz. In Haney’s last outing, he successfully defended the WBC gold over Yuriorkis Gamboa via unanimous decision.
