The saga has had to jump through some hurdles.
Lopez said it was going to take place on May 29, then a June 19 date was announced. But Lopez tested positive for Covid-19, forcing the fight from August 14, but location was an issue.
September 11 was announced as a possibility, but then it was announced for October 17 to October 5. IBF ruled the fight must happen by October 17.
Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) will be defending his belt since becoming world champion last October over Vasyl Lomachenko on points. Kambosos is also coming off a win, but hasn’t fought since his 2020 victory against Lee Selby in London.
