Teofimo Lopez Vs. Jose Pedraza Reportedly Booked For December In New York
Teofimo Lopez is set for his next fight.
According to Julius Julianis, Lopez will fight Jose Pedraza on December 10 at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater.
The fight will mark Lopez’s second fight in the junior welterweight class. He was successful in his debut against Pedro Campa who he defeated by seventh-round TKO on August 13.
Lopez made the change after suffering his first pro career loss to George Kambosos Jr in November 2021, losing all three of his lightweight title belts.
Now he has stepped into a new category and has made it clear who he wants.
“I just turned 25, and we want Josh Taylor. We want all these guys. We want (Regis) Prograis. We want (Jose) Zepeda. We want all the belts. That’s really who we want. We want to become a two-time world champion,” Lopez said after the fight.
But Taylor is caught up in securing a rematch with Jack Catterall, a fight that ended controversially back in February – in favor of Taylor. He has relinquished all but one of his belts to get a second fight.
In comes Pedraza.
Pedraza is coming off of a draw against Richard Commey back in late August. The Puerto Rican had a dominant ninth round, but could not score enough to etch out a victory.
