Terence Crawford likes the idea of fighting Shawn Porter but sharing the ring with Manny Pacquiao is his preference.
Crawford appears to be in prime position for a major fight even if it isn’t against Errol Spence Jr. After defeating Kell Brook via fourth-round TKO, things began to sour between Brook and Top Rank Boxing’s Bob Arum. Brook didn’t take too kindly to Arum saying he isn’t about to go bankrupt for “Bud.” It even got to the point where Crawford dared Arum to let him out of his contract.
It appears cooler heads may prevail as Pacquiao and Porter have expressed interest in fighting Crawford and Arum is all ears. Crawford told Fight Hype that while both fights are intriguing to him, Pacquiao takes top priority (h/t BoxingScene.com).
“I don’t know we just have to wait and see. Both of them are great fights. Yeah I prefer the Manny Pacquiao fight over Shawn Porter, but Shawn Porter is a great fight in its own right and I am going to be ready for whichever one comes to fruition.”
Crawford was asked which fight he thinks is more likely but “Bud” isn’t too sure.
“I really can’t say. All I can do is prepare myself to the best of my abilities and be ready for whatever is put in front of me.”
Many agree that Crawford is missing that one signature win. He has a perfect pro boxing record of 37-0 and is a clear future Hall of Famer but even “Bud” is in search of at least one massive fight before he hangs up his gloves.
