Terence Crawford Not Taking Any Fight Other Than Errol Spence Jr
Terence Crawford has one thing on his mind – Errol Spence Jr.
Crawford said he doesn’t want a tune-up fight. He just wants to take on Spence, the three-belt welterweight champion, for the undisputed welterweight title.
“I’m going straight into it. I don’t want no tuneup fights” Crawford said to ESPN.
The WBO welterweight champion added that he’s waiting for Spence’s team to get in contact with his team.
Crawford has been a free agent since parting ways with Top Rank after his TKO win over now-retired Shawn Porter in November. He explained that he chose to leave the promotion because CEO Bob Arum has been unable to get him the fights he wanted, including one with Spence.
Spence, who is with PBC, is coming off a dominant win over Yordenis Ugas, who he snatched the WBA super belt from.
Immediately after the win, Spence called out Crawford for a fight. On social media, Crawford accepted the challenge and suggested they’d meet later in the year.
“Now is the perfect time for me and him to fight,” Crawford added.
“He called me out, so it ain’t no backing up. Let’s see who the best welterweight in the world is.”
