Terence Crawford Reacts To Errol Spence Jr’s TKO Win Over Yordenis Ugas: ‘Now The Real Fight Happens’

As soon as Errol Spence Jr was declared the new WBC, IBF and WBA welterweight champion of the world on Saturday, it immediately opened a door to his next fight: Terence Crawford.

Boxing fans have been calling for a Spence-Crawford fight for years, but it never came to fruition because of cross-promotional issues and one accusing the other of avoiding it. But now, it’s almost certain that Spence and Crawford with meet in the ring — it’s what they’re both calling for now.

Spence defeated Ugas with a 10th round TKO after the ringside doctor declared Ugas’ right eye was swollen shut. The Texas native now holds three of the four belts in the division, leaving just the WBO title with Crawford.

“Everybody knows who I want next. I want Terence Crawford next,” Spence (29-0) said.

“That’s the fight that I want, that’s the fight that everybody wants. I’m going to go over there and take his shit too. Terence, I’m coming for that (expletive) belt.”

Crawford, who most recently dominated Shawn Porter in November, congratulated Spence on Twitter.

“Now the real fight happens,” Crawford wrote. “No more talk no more side of the street let’s go!!!!”

“Keep my belts warm I’ll be coming to grab em later this year,” he wrote in a separate tweet.

Crawford left Top Rank after his TKO victory against Porter, shoving the door open that leads to Spence.
