Terunofuji Leads The Pack At Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament.

Mongolian Ozeki Terunofuji defeated Komusubi Tochinoshin on Friday to grab sole possession of the lead on day six at the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament.

Terunofuji is looking for his second Emperor’s Cup after winning his first championship title at the Summer Basho in May, Terunofuji took the lead after overnight co-leader Tochiozan fell to his first loss.

Tochinoshin (2-4) worked Terunofuji toward the straw bales but couldn’t answer the counter from the Mongolian.

Kakuryu, the only Yokozuna competing in the 15-day Basho following the withdrawals of Harumafuji and Hakuho due to injury, also won.
