Tete To Be Trained By Mayweather Sr.

Zolani Tete has had a successful run as the WBO bantamweight champion, but as he goes deeper in the Word Boxing Super Series, he’ll now be looking to the Mayweather family for some help.

Tete will now be trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr., who has trained undefeated former champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. In regards to getting a chance to work with the famous trainer, Tete said he’s excited to be able to get that opportunity.

“I am happy to work with someone like Mayweather, someone who we know is doing amazing work. We know what he can produce and what he is capable of doing. We want to win this series and better our chances of winning it,” Tete said.

The South African bantamweight champion is currently in the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series after recently defeating Mikhail Aloyan in the quarterfinals. There was a Mayweather presence on that card as Mayweather Sr. was in the corner of Andrew Tabiti in his win over Ruslan Fayfer to advance to the WBSS cruiserweight semifinals.

Tete is currently awaiting his matchup for the WBSS semifinals, which will be a unification bout for the WBA and WBO titles. Tete will face the winner of the Ryan Burnett vs. Nonito Donaire fight for the WBA “super” title in Scotland in November.
