The Benavidez Brothers Expected To Fight On Same Event

David Benavidez and his brother, Jose Benavidez Jr, are reportedly set to fight on the same card.

According to reports, Benavidez is on course to face Demetrius Andrade in what would be a battle between two undefeated, former world champions. The fight would be for the WBC super middleweight interim title. The Mexican Monster’s last fight was a unanimous-decision win over the former IBF super middleweight champion, Caleb Plant. In contrast, Andrade is coming off a win over Demond Nicholson. The winner will put themselves in a position to fight for undisputed against Canelo Alvarez.

Meanwhile, Benavidez Jr. is increasingly looking likely to fight Jermall Charlo as the latter prepares to make his comeback to boxing following his struggles with mental health. Charlo’s last bout was in 2021 against Juan Macias Montiel. In contrast, Benavidez Jr. stopped Sladan Janjanin in his previous bout. It is not clear if Charlo’s WBC middleweight title will be at stake since Carlos Adames is his mandatory. Nevertheless, since Benavidez Jr. is known for being a junior middleweight, the pressure is on Charlo to perform.

As of now, a fight for November 25th looks likely. However, December 9th, 2023, is also being considered if things fall through for November. The card may also include a fight between Rey Vargas and Brandon Figueroa in a WBC featherweight title clash.
