This Is What Eddie Hearn, Jake Paul Are Betting $1 Million On

Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul are putting their money where their mouth is.

Paul offered to wager on Saturday night’s lightweight championship fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, who are the first women to headline a boxing event at Madison Square Garden. Paul suggested to make a $500,000 bet that Serrano – who is the betting favorite – would defeat Hearn’s fighter.

“Maybe we can talk about a million,” Hearn responded at the final press conference on Thursday.

“Let’s do one million, c’mon,” insisted Paul. “I’ll meet the oddsmakers’ odds. A million plus odds, let’s do it.”

The two eventually shook on the deal, which Hearn said he would get the agreement written on paper.

Taylor is the highest paid female fighter, being that she is an Olympic Gold medalist and two-division champion. She makes her 13th defense of at least one lightweight title dating back to October 2017 when she claimed the WBA title over Anahi Ester Sanchez.

Serrano will earn her first seven-figure payday on Saturday. The Puerto Rican boxer is the only seven-division titleholder in women’s boxing history and for any Puerto Rican-born fighter, male or female.

If Serrano wins, she will become the first Puerto Rican boxer in history to claim undisputed championship status in either the three belt or four belt era.
