“I’m back!! @ATTStadium against wba champion Ugas April 16th… access code ( boxing ) on http://SeatGeek.com at 12pm for early tickets let’s get it !” Spence tweeted.
Spence has not fought in the last 28 months after a near-fatal car crash in October 2019. Miraculously, he came out with just facial lacerations and damaged teeth.
He fought in December 2020 against Danny Garcia, winning via points.
The American boxer was set to take on now-retired legend Manny Pacquiao in August, but was forced to pull out due to an eye injury.
Ugas stepped in as a late replacement and eventually stunned fans and Pacquiao by defeating the former world champion via unanimous decision — simultaneously sending him into retirement.
Ugas was then ordered to make a mandatory defense as challenger Eimantas Stanionas, but the Cuban boxer was able to get out of it.
After months of speculation, it was confirmed that Spence-Ugas was in the works, despite many fans wanting to see Spence take on WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford first.
WBC heavyweight king Tyson Fury and mandatory challenger and interim champ Dillian Whyte are scheduled to lock horns on April 23 in the U.K.
