Three More UFC Fighters Released
The UFC has cut ties with three more fighters.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the UFC released four fighters. Those athletes were Mara Romero Borella, Iuri Alcantara, Jeff Hughes, and Khadis Ibragimov. You can add three more to the list.
Promotion officials have informed MMAFighting.com that Ben Sosoli, Nadia Kassem, and Dequan Townsend have also been sent their walking papers.
Sosoli’s release is perhaps the least surprising. News recently broke that the heavyweight was sentenced to 22 months in jail for punching a man outside of a bar in Melbourne. Sosoli went 0-1, 1 NC under the UFC banner.
After starting off her career going 5-0, Kassem has dropped her last two outings. She was submitted by Montana De La Rosa back on February 10, 2019. Kassem was then knocked out by a body punch in her bout against Ji Yeon Kim.
Townsend was perhaps given more chances under the UFC banner than many anticipated. He is currently on a four-fight skid. Townsend has lost to Dusko Todorovic, Devin Clark, Devon Lewis, and Dalcha Lungiambula in that span. Townsend hasn’t emerged victorious since March 9, 2019.
