Thurman Draws Up His Retirement List

Former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman (31-2, 23 KOs) says he plans to fight only a handful more times before retiring, and has named the opponents he wants to face in his final run.

“Give me a good three. Give me a good five. I mean, because five will get me to 40. Thurman versus Conor Benn. Ryan Garcia. Like Thurman versus Tank Davis. Put the name Thurman next to everybody. All the bodies. Just not the nobodies,” Thurman

The 37-year-old former unified welterweight champion also named Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis among the opponents he would like to fight, which could be his most likely option. However, all of these fights will not be easy to land considering Thurman has been mostly inactive for the past several years, and suffered a round 6 TKO loss to WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora the last time out on March 28, which was the first stoppage loss of his career.

Thurman, however, is looking to cash-in during this stage of his career, as he has his sights set on trying to make the most money possible by being in a few marquee fights before officially announcing his retirement.
