During the final build-up to his junior middleweight title clash in Las Vegas against the WBC champ Sebastian Fundora, Keith Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) said he is hunting a rematch with the 47-year-old Manny Pacquiao, citing the “massive check” as his primary driver.
Thurman’s desire for a rematch stems from the only blemish on his professional record—a July 2019 split-decision loss to “PacMan.” Pacquiao dropped Thurman in the first round. Though Thurman surged in the later rounds, the early deficit cost him his WBA (Super) welterweight title and sent his career into a spiral of inactivity and injuries. Since that defeat, Thurman has only competed a handful of times, most recently returning with a third-round TKO of Brock Jarvis last year. However, a Pacman rematch appeals to him.
“I’m not going to say no to a good fight, a good contract, a good payday,” Thurman said
