Thurman In Talks To Fight Ugas In August
Keith Thurman is reportedly in talks to fight Yordenis Ugas in August for the WBC interim welterweight title.
Thurman is the former WBA and WBC champion after having beaten Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia respectively.
While that may have been the case, One Time’s career has stalled since then. Three fights in six years since the Garcia win have not helped, partly due to a combination of inactivity and injury.
Not only that, but Thurman’s first loss emerged in this period with defeat against Manny Pacquiao.

In contrast, Ugas will be looking to bounce back from his hard-fought loss against Errol Spence Jr.
An tenth-round stoppage ended what had been a competitive fight before the ‘Truth’ stepped on the gas.
Victory for both fighters will be key, as it puts them in a mandatory position to face Errol Spence Jr. or Terence Crawford.
The latter duo face off on July 29th, 2023, with the winner looking likely to move up to junior middleweight.
And if that were to happen, the winner of Thurman-Ugas could become the full WBC champion.
“I heard of Yordenis Ugas with Keith Thurman for August. Tremendous, huh?” Salvador Rodriguez (ESPN Deportes)
In response, the boxing community made it clear that they were on board with this fight.
