Thurman Pulls Out of May 19 Bout

WBA/WBC Welterweight Champion Keith Thurman will not return to the ring on May 19 as scheduled, as a “deep bruise” on his left hand will prevent him from fighting.

As reported by Bad Left Hook, the injury will sideline Thurman for about six weeks, meaning he will now be targeted for a summer return.

Thurman last competed in March 2017, when he defeated Danny Garcia in a title unification bout.

A lot of talk surrounding Thurman has been in regards to a potential showdown with IBF Champion Errol Spence Jr. Thurman feels Spence has more to accomplish before he can face him. Thurman’s bout on May 19 was supposed to be a tune-up bout.

There had been no opponent announced for the May 19 bout before Thurman’s injury was announced.
