Keith Thurman has targeted a return to the ring in August.
‘One Time’ has been away from boxing ever since his win over Mario Barrios over a year ago. While that may have been the case, the former unified welterweight champion is still a big name.
His only loss has come at the hands of former eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao. However, a combination of inactivity and injuries has hampered his progress.
But a return could be on the cards, with four possible names in the offing.
“I don’t want to really say [who the potential opponent is] because there’s a plethora of guys out there. I’m going to get back, stay moving. I want the biggest fight I can make happen, and I welcome all challengers.
“I’ve already said yes to pretty much all four names. Getting me to agree to fight somebody isn’t a problem. Getting the date, locking it in, and organizing the event. That’s the main issue now. I’ve sat on the bench long enough,” Thurman
Should Thurman come out victorious over his next opponent, then he has targeted the winner of Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford.
And yet, that is unlikely to happen for the following reasons. The loser would most likely want a rematch, which means Thurman would be out of the picture.
At the same time, the victor could move up to 154 lbs to challenge undisputed champion Jermell Charlo. But for Thurman, his intentions are very clear.
“I want to get back in action and fight the potential winner or loser of this event [Spence-Crawford],” Thurman
