Keith Thurman has revealed that he will fight Jaron Ennis provided that a contract is drawn up.
Boots is the current IBF mandatory to Terence Crawford following the latter’s win over Errol Spence Jr. to become the undisputed welterweight champion. Although Boots is targeting a shot at Crawford, the chance of that fight happening is unlikely. Bud is likely to move up to 154 pounds in order to take on Spence in the rematch. Therefore, there is a chance that Ennis becomes the full champion if Crawford vacates. In that event, a fight with Thurman could play out as ‘One Time’ is keen on getting the biggest fights now that he is entering into the latter parts of his career.

“Y’all talk about Ennis. We barely talk about Claressa [Shields]. She got more hype than Boots, and y’all want me to say that he’s the one? Y’all want me to say that he’s the man? If that’s the contract that comes in my face and I can’t get a champion [I’ll fight Boots then]. Look at the man’s record. Yeah, he’s undefeated, claiming up. He wants a shot. I wanted a shot. They never gave me a shot. I had to fight this guy that guy. I had to live the same life,” Thurman
A fight with Thurman would undoubtedly boost Ennis’ resume. The welterweight is still lacking that major name on his record, but by facing Thurman, he would have a former unified welterweight champion on his record.
