Tim Tszyu’s undefeated record remains intact after defeating Jeff Horn.
Tszyu (16-0) and Horn (20-3-1) collided on August 26 inside Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Queensland, Australia. The bout was contested for the IBF Australasian and WBO Global Super-Welterweight Titles. In the end, it was Tszyu who scored the eighth-round finish when Horn’s corner stopped the fight.
Horn hung in tough throughout the fight but wasn’t able to find a way to best his opponent. Tszyu was effective in keeping his distance and not allowing Horn to work inside. After the bout, Tszyu heaped praise on Horn (via Bad Left Hook).
“All respect to Jeff. He’s achieved so much, he’s given Australia this platform,” Tszyu said after what is easily the biggest win of his career to date. “It’s an honor to have an event like this with another fellow Australian. He was a tough competitor. But this is a young man’s sport, and I was better this time.”
Horn was gracious in defeat.
“Tim was young, hungry, he’s an absolute champion. I can’t put anything past him. Hopefully, all of Australia can support him now,” Horn said. “He now is the No. 1 in Australia. He earned it today. He can fly that flag very proudly.
