Tim Tszyu Recovering From Surgery For Two Months
While light middleweight champions Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano meet in the ring on Saturday, contender Tim Tszyu will be watching the fight as he recovers from surgery.
Tszyu (21-0, 15 KOs) said he got out of surgery about “four or five days ago” and will reportedly be out for two months. Still, the top contender could land a shot at the winner of the Charlo vs Castano rematch.
“It was from the last fight… busted my hands on the guy’s head!” Tszyu told Fox Sports.
In his last outing against Terrell Gausha, he rallied from being knocked down in the first round, and went the distance, finishing with a unanimous decision victory.
Along with being the Australian’s debut fight in America, it was also the first time he hit the mat in his professional career.
“I had tendon problems, a bit of a tear. I tried punching after the fight but couldn’t,” he added.
“I could feel it straight away, as soon as I took my gloves off. It didn’t really affect me, once you’re in the ring there are no excuses.”
