Tim Tszyu Vs. Tony Harrison To Take Place On March 12th In Sydney

Fight will be on March 11th in the USA evening time due to the time difference

Tim Tszyu is set to battle Tony Harrison for the interim WBO junior middleweight championship at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

This fight had been in the offing for some time, as it took more than two weeks to determine the location after the initial terms were agreed.

The fight is set to take place on March 12th, 2023, in Sydney (March 11th evening in the USA due to the time difference). Even though Tszyu had already been declared the mandatory challenger by the WBO, his opportunity to fight for the title was postponed.

Tszyu agreed to wait for the rematch between Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19KOs) and Brian Castano (17-1-2, 12KOs) to compete for the undisputed championship.

Charlo knocked out Castano with a left hook, as all eyes turned to January 28th 2023, as a Charlo-Tszyu bout was set to hit Vegas. Unfortunately, the event was called off due to Charlo fracturing his left hand.

Going into that fight with Charlo, Tszyu had been away from the ring for the longest period of his career. In order to stay busy, he and his team requested and got authorization to fight for the interim WBO title while Charlo was out.

This is when Tszyu agreed to face Harrison. Harrison will prove to be tough opposition. In 2018, Harrison (29-3-1, 21KOs) was the one to give Charlo his only loss, as he obtained a unanimous decision in their WBC junior middleweight championship fight.

For their rematch, one judge had Harrison ahead on the scorecard, whereas the other two had Charlo in the lead until the eleventh round when Harrison was defeated by KO. Both fighters know a victory takes them one step closer to getting that undisputed status off Charlo.
