Tim Tszyu Wants Jermell Charlo Stripped

Tim Tszyu has demanded that the undisputed junior-middleweight champion, Jermell Charlo, be stripped.

Tszyu’s comments arrive on the back end of news that Charlo will face Canelo Alvarez on September 30th, 2023.

And as part of that process, Charlo will jump up two weight divisions to make it happen. In doing so, Charlo will be fighting above 154 lbs for the first time in his career.

However, in the process, Tszyu has been made to wait longer for a fight with Charlo. Tszyu is the current WBO interim champion at 154, who has been waiting in the wings.

The Australian was meant to face Charlo in January, only for the latter to suffer a hand injury. Although there was hope that the fight would get rescheduled, Charlo’s injury took longer to heal.

Thereafter, Tszyu fought Tony Harrison and Carlos Ocampo in order to remain active. Despite getting two wins, Charlo is now facing Canelo, as Tszyu demanded action.

“I’ve been mandated to fight for the WBO title. It’s too much politics. If he’s not fighting, the belts have to be vacated. It’s quite simple. It’s not fair. The whole division is being held up because of him. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

“There is a bit of anger. Of course, there’s a bit of anger. He’s been on my hit list for such a long time. He’s been my goal. Everything was discussed, everything was ready, and then his brother decided to pull off something, and Jermell decided to take it.

“I’m not sure [what’s going to happen with Jermell’s four titles], but I think he should be stripped,” Tszyu
