Tim Tszyu Withdraws From The Vergil Ortiz Fight

Tim Tszyu has pulled out of his August 3rd fight with Vergil Ortiz Jr

Doctors ruled Tszyu out after he failed to recover from his cut, which he sustained in his split decision loss to Sebastian Fundora on March 30. Tszyu accidentally connected on Fundora’s elbow, resulting in a big cut over his hairline. The bleeding continued throughout the fight, hampering his vision.

While Tszyu should arguably have called for the fight to be stopped, he continued as he lost his WBO Junior Middleweight Belt. A turnaround for August 3 was always going to be tricky. He was also facing a knockout artist in Ortiz, who is undefeated with a 21-0 record. All of his stoppages have been by knockout. Now, Tszyu has time to recover and consider his next options.
