Timothy Bradley called out Ryan Garcia’s attitude in his defeat to Gervonta Davis.
In a bout that offered the winner to become ‘the face of boxing,’ Garcia failed to deliver on the biggest stage.
A seventh-round body shot ended his hopes as he failed to beat the count. While that may have been the case, Garcia rose to his feet immediately after the count, with his critics suggesting he quit.
And that is how Bradley saw it playing out.
“He quit. I’m just like any other fighter out there. There’s no doubt about it. Listen to me. If you can get up at 11, why can’t you get up at 9? If you can look up, you can get up, Max, and he chose not to.
“Yes, he quit, but you can also say, ‘Was it smart for him to basically quit?’ You can say that, too because trust me, he did not want to end up on the ESPN top 10 highlights because trust me.
“If he had got up, he would have been taken out because Tank Davis is one of the best finishers in boxing,” Bradley
Despite this being the case, the response on social media was mixed.

I think he quit but I’ve never taken a shot like that to the liver.

Garcia’s decision to move up to 140 lbs may prove wise later down the line. However, given the hard hitters in the division, such as Regis Prograis, Garcia may have no choice but to fight fire with fire if he faces a similar situation again.
After all, reports suggest that Garcia has parted ways with Joe Goossen, indicating that ‘King Ryan’ is looking for a change in approach.
