Tochiozan Surging At Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament

Promotion-chasing sekiwake Tochiozan pulled off a stunning victory over co-leader Kisenosato on Thursday to maintain his perfect start at the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament.

Tochiozan got inside Kisenosato and surged forward and pushed the Ozeki over the straw bales at Ryogoku Kokugikan.

Tochiozan is now tied for the lead at 5-0 with Mongolian Ozeki and summer tournament champion Terunofuji, who defeated third-ranked maegashira Sadanoumi (2-3).

“I’m doing better than I did at the last tournament. I want to take it up a notch and keep winning,” Tochiozan said.

Kakuryu, the last Yokozuna left in the field, slapped down winless No. 2 maegashira Sadanofuji and is tied for second with at 5-1 with Kisenosato and four others.
