Tom Aspinall Is Done Chasing Jon Jones And Stipe Miocic – “I’m Too Dangerous, Man”

While UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall is still interested in fighting Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, he is done going on the offensive to get the fight made.

Clearly feeling slighted, some say rightfully so, by a postponed title match between former champion Miocic and the current titleholder in Jones, Aspinall is at this point ready to take his own path and not rely on situations that are out of his control.

Back in November, Aspinall secured a first round knockout over Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295 to capture the interim 265-pound title. But, with no shot at unifying the division in the near future, naturally the Englishman is wondering what is next for him. Furthermore, he feels that Miocic and Jones do not want to take any unnecessary risks by fighting a younger, dynamic competitor, who by comparison is still considered a UFC newcomer.

“I’m too dangerous, man,” he said. “Simple. I’m too risky for these guys. Who knows, one day maybe when the shoe’s on the other foot, and I’m on the back end of my career, I get put in a situation like that, I’ll do the same thing. I’m not blaming anybody.

“I want to say how much respect I have for both guys. These guys are friggin’ heroes of mine. That is part of the reason that I would love to get the opportunity to fight them. But if it’s not happening, it’s not happening. And the crying’s over.”

Aspinall’s name has been mentioned in the recent weeks regarding the potential for him to appear on the UFC 300 card. With the MMA community still anxiously awaiting an announcement of who will be headlining, many individuals feel that Aspinall could be an important component in making the monumental event everything it is expected to be.

Below social posting is an unconfirmed rumor.
