Tom Aspinall Sidelined With Torn MCL, Meniscus After Loss At UFC London

Tom Aspinall suffered a meniscus injury and torn MCL at UFC London.

Aspinall fought with Curtis Blaydes at UFC London. They were headlining the event, and the winner was supposed to get the title shot.

There were lots of hopes for Aspinall to get one step closer to a title fight, but he suffered a leg injury under 15 seconds of the first round. Yesterday, Aspinall posted a post-surgery video where he explains all the details and says thanks to his fans.

“Good morning, everybody. Today is surgery day,” Aspinall said.

“I’m in London right now and I’m absolutely starving because I can’t eat before surgery. I have suffered a torn MCL, a torn meniscus, and some ACL damage. So I’m going to get that fixed today, but just a quick message just to say thank you for all the support.

“I really appreciate it. I’ve had so much love since the accident, and I’ll see everybody on the other side. Peace out.”

Aspinall will need a few months to heal after surgery, and it is doubtful that he will be able to fight again before the end of the year.

Aspinall has been emerging as one of the most promising heavyweights.

Aspinall was 5-0 in the UFC before the injury defeat to Blaydes, all victories coming by stoppage.
