Tom Aspinall’s Father Voices Frustration With Jon Jones Waiting Game

Many feel that Tom Aspinall’s team is rightfully frustrated by having to wait for heavyweight champion Jon Jones to sign on to the division’s unification bout, and Tom’s father has been quite vocal on the situation.

Aspinall has held the 265-pound interim UFC title since November 2023, earning it by defeating Sergei Pavlovich with a first round knockout while Jon Jones sat out with an injury. But, despite holding the interim title, the Englishman has been left waiting for the bout that expected long ago.

In a recent video uploaded to YouTube, Tom and his father Andy discussed the waiting game they have been forced to play for the last year and a half, and the latter did not hold back during this discussion, clearly outraged over his son’s skills going unused for the time being.

“It’s stupid. I have no idea the reason why the UFC don’t want Tom to fight anybody else other than Jon Jones.

‘Stay tuned.’ That’s the message they wanted Tom to give out to people… we’re in April now, still waiting for [Jon] to say ‘I’ll have a fight’ or ‘I’ll not have a fight’. I don’t really understand that. He’s a fighter who should be having fights.

Why’s [Jon] still sat around not giving an answer as to whether he’s gonna fight or not.”
