Tommy Fury Denied Entry To U.S. Ahead Of Press Conference With Jake Paul In NYC

The Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight might be at a standstill once again.

The Paul-Fury bout is officially on hold, Boxing Scene reported Tuesday morning. Fury also informed his followers what was happening to “set the record straight.”

So, I just want to come on here and set the record straight before anybody else tries to,” Fury stated in a video posted on his verified social media channels.

“Me and my team this morning arrived at Heathrow Airport ready for the press conference, ready to fly out. And as soon as I entered the airport I got pulled to one side and I was told by the Homeland Security officer that was there that my ESTA had been denied and I wasn’t able to travel to the USA for a reason that I apparently know.

“I can stand here and say I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong and I have no clue why I’m not allowed to travel to the USA. I’ve been training for a fight this whole time and that’s all I’ve been doing.”

Fury was trying to enter the U.S. to make it to a scheduled press conference on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden, but the issue has forced that to be cancelled.

“Despite many assurances by Tommy Fury’s team that he was able to come to the U.S., and knowing that Tommy was in California just last month, we were surprised to learn that he had an issue at Heathrow Airport on Monday,” Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions said in a statement.

“As a result of circumstances out of our control, the scheduled press conference for Wednesday at MSG has been postponed.

“We are working with our partners at SHOWTIME and Madison Square Garden and will share more information as soon as we are able.”

The travel issue does not seem to be related to the sanctions imposed on accused Irish crime leader Daniel Kinahan – despite other outlets trying to connect those dots, according to Boxing Scene.

Tyson Fury, Tommy’s older half-brother, was similarly prohibited from entering Miami, Florida earlier this month.

Tommy was previously able to enter the U.S. to celebrate his girlfriend’s 23rd birthday on May, which was after the sanctions were imposed on those close to Kinahan.

Tommy also had travel issues last spring, but was able to enter the U.S. where he trained for his bout on the undercard of Paul’s eight-round decision against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley on August 29, 2021.

“I have no clue why they would not allow me to travel today and neither does any of my team or my lawyers,” Tommy said.

“So now I’m having to go to them trying to resolve it, and I’m in the middle of training. I don’t know why this is happening today, it’s a massive shock to me and my whole team.

“Obviously it is a matter that needs to be resolved. It’s government issues, it’s a lot bigger than the fight right now and I’m just trying to get it sorted.”

This past week, Tyson bet Paul $1 million that his brother would beat the latter.

“Hey, Jakey Boy, I hear you want a bet a bigger bet than $100,000,” Fury said. “You want a bigger bet m—? You want a million dollars? Let’s do it. Holler at your boy. You want a million, you got it.

“And hey, Jakey, I want to see this million dollars in escrow, sucker, cause I don’t think you’ve got a million dollars. I ain’t talking about crypto. I’m talking about real U.S. green backs m—. Real U.S. dollars, no crypto.”
