Many were shocked when the news broke that Tony Ferguson signed up for GFL’s inaugural draft following his UFC retirement, but ‘El Cucuy’ stands by his choice.
Ferguson went as a 3rd round pick to team Los Angeles in the draft for the new team based MMA organization ‘Global Fight League’. It has even since been announced that his first fight with the company will be versus Jiu Jitsu black belt, and social media disrupter, Dillon Danis, who is a member of team New York.

Ferguson finished his time with the UFC after an 8 fight losing skid, and an overall record of 15-9, but the veteran will be most remembered for his 12 fight win streak between 2013 and 2019, as well as his lightweight title match versus Khabib Nurmagomedov that never came to fruition.
On a recent call with Ariel Helwani, Ferguson touched on his UFC departure, and his reasoning for how certain he is that this was the right decision to move on to the GFL.
