Tony Ferguson’s Next UFC Opponent Likely Revealed
It looks like Tony Ferguson’s next opponent has been decided.
MMAJunkie.com reports that Ferguson vs. Beneil Dariush is being targeted for UFC 262. That event takes place on May 15. Contracts haven’t been finalized but both men have agreed to the fight.
A look at the updated UFC lightweight rankings reveals that Ferguson holds the number five spot, while Dariush sits at the ninth position. Most would consider this to be the biggest fight in Dariush’s pro MMA career.
Ferguson last competed back in December. He was beaten by Charles Oliveira via unanimous decision. This was the second loss in a row for “El Cucuy.” Ferguson’s last win was back in June 2019.
Dariush is riding a six-fight winning streak. In that span, he’s beaten Carlos Diego Ferreira, Scott Holtzman, Drakkar Klose, Frank Camacho, Drew Dober, and Thiago Moises. Dariush hasn’t been defeated since March 2018.
