Top Featherweights Arnold Allen And Calvin Kattar Added To UFC Fight Night Card

Two of the featherweight division’s best contenders are meeting in a UFC main event.

Arnold Allen and Calvin Kattar will face off in the main event of UFC Fight Night on October 29. Brett Okamoto of ESPN was the first to break the news.

With 11 straight victories, Allen has risen to the top of the featherweight title race. Since his June 2015 UFC debut, he has won nine fights inside the octagon, most recently defeating Dan Hooker and Sodiq Yusuff.

Throughout his current winning run, Allen has faced several tough opponents. In his most recent fights, he defeated Nik Lentz, Mads Burnell and former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez.

Kattar most recently suffered a split decision loss to Josh Emmett at UFC Austin earlier this year. The judges’ evaluations received harsh criticism on social media, and many people thought Kattar had done enough to merit the victory.

When Kattar entered UFC Austin, he had just experienced maybe his best performance ever. He defeated Giga Chikadze via a decision to inflict the promising prospect his first UFC defeat.

The winner of Allen vs. Kattar may be one step closer to competing for the championship.

As UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski recovers from an injury and maybe makes a move to lightweight, the division is now quite static.

The UFC Apex in Las Vegas will host the October 29 UFC Fight Night event. The event will include a featherweight contest between Edson Barboza and Ilia Topuria.
