Kambosos vs Hughes Set for July 22, Keyshawn Davis To Co-Headline
Top Rank brings a star-studded boxing event set to go down in July.
George Kambosos Jr. will face Maxi Hughes in an IBF title eliminator on July 22nd, 2023, live from the FireLake Arena, Oklahoma.
Kambosos will be looking to bounce back from his consecutive defeats to Devin Haney, as the latter claimed the undisputed title.
Prior to that, he had been on an impressive run beating ex-champions Mickey Bey and Lee Selby to get a shot at the title in 2021.
He did not disappoint when he faced Teofimo Lopez, as he pulled off one of the biggest boxing upsets in recent memory. And in doing so, he became the unified lightweight champion.
In contrast, Hughes is on an impressive run of form. His last defeat was in 2019 when he came second best to Liam Walsh.
But since that moment, he has been on a seven-fight-winning streak. And in his last fight, he beat Kid Galahad via a majority decision.
In chief support, Keyshawn Davis squares off against former European champion Francesco Patera. The former Olympian has been in dazzling form, drawing a comparison with Terence Crawford.
So far, his record stands at 8-0 after beating Anthony Yigit via a ninth-round TKO in his last fight. Meanwhile, Patera is on a 10-win streak following a first-round knockout win over Irakli Shariashvili.
