Topuria Says ‘Big News Is Coming’
UFC Lightweight Champion Ilia Topuria has promised fans that “big news is coming soon.”
Topuria hasn’t competed since June 2025, when he knocked out Charles Oliveira to claim the vacant 155-pound belt. The win made him a two-weight champion. He then took time away from the sport to deal with personal issues, claiming “false allegations of domestic abuse.” The champion is now back in training.
Speculation has increased over who the 155-pound champ could face next and with Islam Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, hinting at a massive fight for his fighter, rumors are escalating that Topuria will move up to 170 to challenge Makhachev for his belt and try to become the first three-division UFC champion in history.
