Trainer: Jose Benavidez Can’t Afford To Lose Focus Against Danny Garcia

The upcoming middleweight fight between Danny Garcia and Jose Benavidez (27-1-1) also represents the battle of the fathers.

Garcia has been trained by his father Angel Garcia, whereas Benavidez is also trained by his father, Jose Benavidez Sr.

The two athletes will lock horns for a Showtime fight on July 30 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. After a lacklustre draw against Francisco Emanuel Torres last November, the 30-year-old might want this win more than his opponent.

Benavidez Sr. expects a very tough match. He accepts that his son doesn’t only have to win the match, he also has to look impressive when he faces Garcia.

“We have to look impressive. I know Danny’s ready, him and his father are training super hard. All due respect to them,” Benavidez Sr. told the Arizona Central.

“But at the end of the day, man, we need this fight in order to get back in the rankings and get back in boxing with José Benavidez Jr. We need to impress. We need to give it all, and I guarantee you someone’s going to get knocked out,”.

“We know what we’re getting into. Like I tell everybody, we don’t run from nobody. We’re facing an animal. A monster. We’re ready for that and we’re ready to give the people what they want on July 30.”
