Triller CEO Promises Lopez-Kambosos Won’t Be Presented Like Paul-Askren Was
Triller CEO, Ryan Kavanaugh, is promising boxing purists will feel at home when they tune in for Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos.
Fight fans who tuned in for Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren got far more than just a boxing event. A bevy of music artists performed live and there were even interviews featuring comedian Pete Davidson. Rapper Snoop Dogg, another comedian, Mario Lopez, and others were on commentary during the expletive-laced broadcast. It was a show that the boxing purist isn’t accustomed to.
The presentation of Paul vs. Askren left many worried about how Lopez vs. Kambosos will be handled by Triller. Appearing on SiriusXM’s At The Fights podcast, Kavanaugh said the boxing purists have nothing to worry about (h/t Bad Left Hook).
“We’re learning from each one. That one was not made for the boxing purist. Jake Paul’s 24 years old, he’s a YouTube star. So you gotta give them what they want — they want young, fun, marijuana is legal, music. We gave them that because this was a young event.
“The next event we’ve got a real title fight, if you’re a boxing purist you’re gonna love it. Because we’ll still have a little bit of the fun in there, but it’s not gonna be this Lollapalooza-slash-Coachella thing, it’s gonna be a pure boxing event with a lot of fun in it. I guarantee you boxing purists will watch that one and say, ‘That was good, it had great fights, they were what I wanted, and I didn’t have to watch the music. But it just depends on the audience.”
Lopez vs. Kambosos is set to take place on June 5. The lead candidate for the venue is Marlins Park in Miami, Florida.
