Trump Likes UFC White House Event Rebrand Idea

President Donald Trump expressed enthusiasm over a reporter’s suggestion to rebrand the June 14th UFC White House event “UFC 1776,” a nod to the year the United States declared its independence.

The potential name change follows after UFC CEO Dana White revealed that Derrick Lewis vs. Josh Hokit was added to the card after Trump asked why Lewis was not already featured. When asked by a reporter about the “UFC 1776” name-change, Trump was open towards it and mentioned discussing it with Dana White. Trump also revealed that a 4,500-seat arena will be placed near the octagon in the South Lawn , while the Ellipse will feature between 50,000-100,000 for fans to watch via screens.

I will say, I’ve been involved with a lot of big events but I’ve never had an event that has had more interest than the UFC that we have right on our front door. They’re going to start building about a 4,500-seat arena and then at the back at the Ellipse we’re going to have maybe about 50-100,000 people I guess,” Trump said
