Trump Prompts Added Fight To UFC White House Card
UFC CEO Dana White revealed Derrick Lewis vs. Josh Hokit will feature on the UFC Freedom 250 White House event on June 14 after President Donald Trump requested the match-up.
The fight was confirmed at UFC 327 after Trump asked White why Lewis, who has the record for the most KOs in the UFC with 16, was not on the upcoming White House card. After a call between White and Lewis, the latter expressed his desire to fight on the card. As for Hokit, the rising prospect secured his position after beating Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327.Â
“About an hour ago, the president leans over to me and says, ‘Why is Derrick Lewis not on the White House card?’ and I said, ‘Hold on, Mr. President.’ I stepped away and called Derrick Lewis and said, ‘Derrick, the president just asked why you’re not on the card. Do you want to fight on the White House card?’ He said, ‘Of course,'” White said
Trump arrived at UFC 327 with his daughters Ivanka Trump and Tiffany Trump, while his granddaughter Kai Trump also made an appearance. Before taking his cageside seat, Trump made a point to greet Joe Rogan at the commentary table after the latter’s recent criticism of the Iran war.
