Tsarukyan Reveals Makhachev Rematch Planned For UFC 310

Arman Tsarukyan says plans are underway to make a UFC 310 December fight with the UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev.

Arman solidified his position for a title shot after beating Charles Oliveira at UFC 300 via a split decision. The win means a rematch with Makhachev after their first fight in 2019, where Arman lost via a unanimous decision. The date of the rematch had been complicated after Tsarukyan received a six-month ban after hitting out at a UFC fan during his walkout for the Oliveira fight.

Meanwhile, Makhachev also revealed he suffered an injury after his win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 302. Islam hinted at moving up to welterweight but was keen on facing Arman first. Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler has also been linked with December after their UFC 303 fight was pulled once The Notorious withdrew with a broken toe. Now, it appears that Tsarukyan-Makhachev could happen in December. 

“[The fight with Islam] was supposed to take place in October. But they have put it off. Now it’s being negotiated for December… It depends on when Islam is coming back, if he needs a surgery and he returns next spring then they will put an interim title on the line,” Arman said
